Overview
Collectively Disconnected, Galeri 77
Galeri 77 is hosting the exhibition “Collectively Disconnected" between November 30th and December 31st, which brings together the colorful and striking works of four young artists from the same generation. The exhibition, which opens the doors of Narek Arzumanyan, Sedat Girgin, Vav Hakobyan and Halil Sercan Tunalı's unique fantasy worlds and allows us to make comparisons between them, conveys from different perspectives the isolated and divided states of individuals through common traumas, cultural elements, social problems and forms of expression that people share in today's world, while showing that this experience can also be possible through a slower and gradual transition process rather than a sudden change.

In “Collectively Disconnected", two Turkish and two Armenian artists explore issues such as reality, imagination, the search for identity, existence, expression, humanity, society and socio-cultural issues through the lenses of artists from different geographies. As a platform for artistic dialogue on the diversity of individual expression and cultural connections, this comparative exhibition invites viewers to embark on a thought-provoking journey by pushing the boundaries of traditional art through the artists' works.

In today's fragmented and polarized world, the concepts of right and wrong are being left behind. We leave our own perception of the world, our ideas and prejudices behind and step into another dimension, even if only for a short time. The artists' own perspectives and inner realms are subjected to exaggeration, deformation, abstraction and deconstruction, adding a strikingness to their narrative and emotional transmissions. While the language of art acts as a bridge, the exhibition displays the common denominator of humanity, even though it comes from different geographies.

The dichotomies juxtaposed in the exhibition create a duality not only under the umbrella of a social difference, but also in the style of the artists; we are confronted with a series of contrasts between the grotesque, satirical and dark as opposed to the bright, vivid and vibrant. Vav Hakobyan and Sedat Girgin on one side and Narek Arzumanyan and Halil Sercan Tunalı on the other. No matter how separated and contradictory we are as a society, they give us clues about our interconnectedness and similarities as human beings in ways we cannot fathom.
