Galeri 77 is hosting Halil Sercan Tunalı's solo exhibition titled “A Primitive Space Adventure” to be held within the gallery between September 16 and October 17. Newly represented young artist whom will be remembered by the audience from the 2020 edition of Mamut Art Project, Halil Sercan Tunalı, invites us with his drawings to a fiction between reality and imagination that is abstracted, internalized, advanced or backwards, contemporary or primitive yet also quite experimental. The artist, whom we frequently encounter with the effects of minimalism and surrealism in his compositions, tries to be nourished by the effects of expressionism, optic and abstract art. Influenced by artists such as Picasso, Miro and Escher, Halil Sercan Tunalı strives to strengthen the bonds he wants to establish with the audience by creating an alphabet with the symbols he uses in his paintings.

Halil Sercan Tunalı's works constitute mirrored, simplified and minimal narratives of the aforementioned realism and reality. In addition to a personalized reality, a social realism is also widely used in Tunalı's illustrations. Casual and actual topics of discussion reach an imaginary dimension in a visual fusion with scientific facts. The works, which are blended with text and visuals and reach readers and viewers in a plain and simple language and content, present sections of today's reality in a poetic fairy-tale style. Tunalı's works on socio-political issues, cultural deformation and individual clashes are viewed as a duality of dark and light and their harmony side by side within the subjectivized approach of dark and light colors. In his illustrations, which he prepares with techniques such as watercolor, acid-based markers and acrylic, he underlines any negativities in the composition by letting the dark tones take over, and in contrast he utilizes a pleasant and poetic balance of a sweet summer breeze with the combination of pastel and volatile, lyrical tones while pointing to positive subjects.

Halil Sercan Tunalı's exhibition titled "A Primitive Space Adventure" is presented as a multidimensional issue of perception, depicting the egos created through the existence of man, which does not even constitute a small dot in the universe, the destroyed life, the indicators between reality and fiction, social media and today's language in the axis of science, art, culture and society. This whole life, as absurd and ironic as it is, comes out of Halil Sercan Tunalı's mind as a new way of interrogation, a sharp narrative. Our desperation, selfishness, and our effort to save the world and ourselves in the face of all this modernity stand before us like a lyrical blow of wind.
